ABOUT SWITCH 3
Switch 3 are a band difficult to pigeon hole and hard to hold back. With their latest EP "Memories Fade” and film clip to the title track hitting the stores, airwaves and TV channels right now, you’ll soon know why.
But don’t just take our word for it, as Blunt Magazine (issue 38) says “Comprised of four handsome fellas from the nation’s capital who have obviously heard a few 311 records, Switch 3 write compact and taut songs that are at their best in the heaviest parts of tracks like ‘Memories Fade’. Maf Davis has a powerful and melodic voice, and the tunes motor along smoothly and fluidly. ‘Stain’ is a rocking little number; one that would be quite at home on a Bodyjar record. ‘Bulletproof’ has more of its own style, a little more arena-styled rock than the rest, and would definitely benefit from a $100,000 video clip. As a brief introduction to our world, Switch 3 has done well; real well.”
Recorded with Anton Hagop, whose list of clients includes the likes of Powderfinger, Missy Higgins, Will Smith and whose work with silverchair gained him the 2002 ARIA Engineer of the Year winner, 'Memories Fade' has its own unique style set to draw you in. From fast paced punk similar to The Mistfits, Good Riddance and AFI to Helmet and Mark Of Cain style rock, it has something for everyone.
Formed in the ACT in late 2002, Switch 3 has established a broad crew of supporters who have taken to their individual sound and tight professional performances. These supporters include industry leaders such as Perisher Blue Ski Resort and Arnette (both of whom sponsor the band) who appreciate that Mick, Ben, Maf and Evan are a down to earth group of guys that love making music and respect people who make the effort to come and enjoy it. Fresh from their 2005 tour of Japan, which saw them sharing the stage with Japan's top melodic punk bands and winning over capacity crowds night after night in Shirahama, Osaka and Tokyo, Switch 3 are set to take their music around Australia in a big way. Catch them live if you can or keep your eyes peeled to Rage and Video Hits as they launch the Memories Fade video clip. With dark undertones reminiscent of Japanese cult horror movies 'The Ring' and 'The Grudge', the clip and the band promises to be anything but a faded memory.
