This is a fantastic read by one of Australia's most iconic entertainers. From Barry Crocker's working class beginnings in Geelong through to the crazy days filming 'The Adventures of Barry McKenzie' and its sequel. "Bazza" is a warm and irreverent memoir that spans four decades of a remarkable life, and a fascinating period in Australia's entertainment history. He is one of the truly great legends of this country. Some of the best parts of the book include where Bazza talks about growing up in Geelong, Victoria ; his teenage years where with two friends, he garnered himself a reputation as a ladies man at the famous Palais Royal Dancehall, and the numerous jobs he had before deciding on a show business career, such as working for a tile company where he was bullied mercilessly by some of his co-workers. Bazza's future wife Dene came onto the scene in 1951. To try and win her heart , he joined the local amateur dramatic society of which she was a member. It was during this period with the Geelong Musical Comedy Company that Barry realised his future lay in showbiz. Bazza is best known for his role as Barry MacKenzie in the two hit seventies films, and singing the theme tune of Neighbours, the hit Australian TV show. He has had numerous gold records, gold Logies and has been an active guiding light for Variety, the children's charity. Barry has certainly had an action packed career, and one that dosnt look like stopping any time soon. During his career he has worked with the greats, not just at home with the likes of Bert Newton and Graham Kennedy, but overseas with the calibre of artists like Sinatra, Lewis and Martin. For a period in the late sixties and all through the seventies and early 80's he was one of the burgeoning Australia TV scenes guiding lights. The book is a great addition to any entertainment library.
